Why wasn’t my confession published?

Our most popular question – “Why wasn’t my confession published?” or its corollary, “Why was this horrible confession published?”

As a reminder – you can post ANY confession you want directly in the Facebook group, and no one filters, edits, or approves it. When you submit an ANONYMOUS confession, it goes to our admin team to be reviewed (for spam/drama/etc…) and posted. So here’s some insight on that process

  • We receive 10-50 anon confessions every day. About half are legitimate confessions, the remainder are a mixture of spam, drama/bullshit posts(more on that in a moment), or personal attacks.
  • ANON posts that use a specific person’s name are less likely to be posted (i.e. ‘Patrick has a mole on his ass’) and if they are, that name is likely to be redacted. Occasionally the named individual will be informed that they were, in fact, Patrick.
  • ANON posts that are attacking someone, or just boring love interest posts, etc are less likely to be posted (i.e. ‘I want to sex Patrick’, ‘Patrick is an annoying SOB that hits dolphins in his spare time’)
  • ANON Confessions can be submitted 24/7/365, however our admins do occasionally have to sleep! It’s quite possible that your submission could be posted several hours after you have submitted it.
  • When we receive several ANON submissions in a short period of time, the admins will frequently space out the posting of these confessions in order to create a more even flow of posts or the group.
  • Some admins may not feel comfortable with certain topics in a confession, and may wait for another admin to handle the confession. This could delay the posting of a confession.
  • Posting of a specific confession does not imply any endorsement of that confession or the ideas within it.
  • Shitposts: If the confession is nonsense drunken rambling, it lacks entertainment or therapeutic value. In fact, those two things are pretty good indicators of a confession that will make it through. If it is entertaining or potentially helpful, the admins are usually all about it. (It should be noted that occasionally a drunken nonsense will slip through for entertainment value or because the admin in question was drunk themselves.)
  • It’s possible that your ANON submission was simply overlooked if we got a lot that day, or somehow got eaten by the mail server or our mail clients. You can *either* inbox an admin(we’ve never had anyone break confidentiality!) to ask about it, OR contact us using the confession form again – just give us some keywords or topic of your ‘lost’ submission and we’ll see what we can find out .
  • Occasionally an ANON confess will include something that infuriates, or is evidence of a crime, or is related to a particular individual’s Chosen Cause™. It’s completely understandable to be upset and want to take action if you feel there is a great injustice in the world (or even something that just pisses you off). That said, there’s nothing anyone can do to track down an anon confessor. Furthermore, none of these are guaranteed to be non-fiction.  We don’t lynch mob here, because it’s wrong and we’ve designed it so that we can’t.
